Mapmakers Encouraged to Make Better Maps

All too often a map can be a hasty afterthought in an otherwise lengthy process of data preparation. Understanding the fundamentals of good map design is essential in the preparation of maps that convey the correct message in a clear and concise manner.

Recognising that there is little formal cartographic training in UK, The British Cartographic Society launched its Better Mapping Campaign to encourage mapmakers to look beyond the default settings and to understand what makes a better map.  Find out more or book for the next seminar, Better Mapping II, in London on 26 July 2012.
